![]() Additional Quotes about the Local Church by Witness Lee and Watchman NeeIn the early years of my ministry I had many points to pass on to others. A sister came to me thirty-five years ago and asked how she could overcome her temper. I replied, Sister, firstly, you must do this; secondly, you must do that; thirdly fourthly fifthly sixthly until there were twelve points. Go home and practice all these twelve points, and you will overcome your temper. It was a hard job! About ten years later, others came with the same question. The number of points was then reduced to about six. Then after a few years, the points were reduced further to three. Today, I will give you not twelve points, not six, not three, but only one: just come into the local church, stay in the local church, and praise the Lord. All your problems will be solved spontaneously. Believe me. (Witness Lee, Christ and the Church, 110-111) [Psalm 68] verses 19 and 20: Blessed be the Lord: day by day doth he load us with good, the God who is our salvation. Selah. God is unto us a God of deliverances; and with God, the Lord, are the goings forth even from death. In the house, in the church, in the sanctuary, God loads us with good day by day; hence we enjoy His goods; we enjoy His salvation, His deliverances, and His goings forth even from death. The going forth from death is a real deliverance. If we could go forth from death, we could go forth from the enemy. Everyone knows that whenever death comes to visit, there is no escape. This is really so. But we Christians may say today that whenever we are confronted with death, we can go forth from death. What a deliverance! We enjoy God; we experience God as our deliverance, as our going forth from death. (Witness Lee, Christ and the Church, 109) 2. Through Christs Resurrection LifeMost Christians do not realize that Psalm 23 is a continuation of Psalm 22. The Lord is my shepherd. Who is this Lord who is my shepherd? Christ in resurrection is my Shepherd. We should not forget the previous Psalm, which tells how He suffered death to accomplish redemption for us, how He was resurrected, and how we were made His brethren by His resurrection. It is also by this that the whole earth, in a sense, turns to Him, even the dead bow before Him, and we, the meek and prosperous ones, are all the day eating Him, being satisfied with Him, worshipping Him, serving Him, and preaching the Gospel to the coming generation. Such a Christ, who has died, was resurrected, and brought forth such a result, is our Shepherd. (Witness Lee, Christ and the Church, 49) |
